Live D&D on Market & Powell, San Francisco

I am a method Dungeon Master. As reported by Laughing Squid, I recently took the next step in delivering role-playing games to a greater audience: running a live D&D game in downtown San Francisco on Saturday afternoon!

Players were found (some of whom had never played RPGs before), we were out there for close to 5 hours, and the game was a smashing success despite a few incidents. We’ll have more information and videos soon; in the meantime, please enjoy Matt Lopez’s photos, and become a fan of King of RPGs on facebook!

More photos are available on flickr.

EDIT: I was just interviewed on Anime Vice by the awesome Gia and John! Please check it out for much talk about manga and a little talk about roleplaying and, of all things, orcs.

  1. No Thank You

I was all excited that SF had cool things going on. Perhaps with the slow economy people were getting creative and playing again.

I was crushed to learn it was just an extended ad for people to sell more stuff. How banal.

  2. Firstly, I’m sorry you find our creator-owned, self-promoted comic worthy of your indie rock scorn. Secondly, if you think my Dungeon Mastering skills are “an extended ad,” you’ve got another think coming.

  3. No Thank You: It was still a good idea, even if it was to fulfill a higher purpose other than simply playing a game of D&D. Also, I’ve heard tell of Jason’s legendary DMing skills, so I wouldn’t knock him if I were you. You would have been lucky if you had gotten a chance to play with him.

  4. Perhaps I should read this blog more regularly. Depending on what the cross street was, this would’ve been a short walk and sounds like a lot of fun. I’m itchin’ to play again.

Actually, if anyone wants to do a one-off Call of Cthulhu after Halloween, I’d be willing to run it (so long as I could find a place to copy character sheets).

  5. I also play games indoors, although I have a feeling that the Street Master will return… :) I’m pretty busy in November and December but It’s been too long since I’ve played Call of Cthulhu so if you have a date in mind, let me know, I’d be interested!

  6. What an awesome interview!

  7. Why are you dressed as Cobra Commander?

  8. The Street Master has to protect his identity, so he always wears a mask.
