Jason Thompson (the author) is dedicated to manga and roleplaying in all its forms, but mostly tabletop. His favorite games include D&D 3rd and 4th edition, KULT and The Dying Earth. His favorite RPG characters have included: an alcoholic horror writer, a wimpy vampire physician, an elven snake shaman, a monk who lives symbiotically with a colony of green slime, a South Indian wizard, an Aztec cyborg, a tiefling ninja, a weeaboo European swordsman, and various obvious analogues of himself. He started out in the manga industry working as an editor for VIZ at the age of 20, and spent his twenties editing manga such as Dragon Ball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Shaman King, Fullmetal Alchemist, Bastard!!, Uzumaki, One Piece, Naruto and The Drifting Classroom before leaving VIZ to write the Eisner-nominated “Manga: The Complete Guide”. Victor Hao (the artist) is a force to be reckoned with in animation, CG, comic art and Final Fantasy Online.
